Drowning can happen in seconds, and in only a few inches of water, so active supervision is #1—keep infants within arm’s reach and stay off your phone. Ensure your pool is secured with a 4-foot, self-latching fence, and always use U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets instead of inflatable toys. While swim lessons are great, they don't replace a watchful eye or knowing CPR, so stay alert and never let anyone swim alone. Let’s prevent accidents and keep the water fun for everyone! ☀️ https://www.abingtonpeds.com/safety/A-Parent-s-Guide-to-Water-Safety

Don’t wait for the sidelines—get your athlete ready for the season with a comprehensive sports physical! Whether it's for school, camp, or returning from an injury, these exams are vital to ensure your child can safely handle high-intensity activity without risking long-term harm. Beyond just checking boxes for school requirements, a physical allows your pediatrician to evaluate musculoskeletal health, screen for underlying risks, and manage chronic conditions like asthma. By reviewing medical history and past injuries, we can provide personalized advice to prevent new ones, ensuring your child stays in the game and stays healthy! 🏐🏀 https://www.abingtonpeds.com/other-services

Give long-acting antihistamines (like Zyrtec) daily during the two+ months of pollen season to prevent breakthrough symptoms. Help your child breathe easier by using saline drops to wash pollen out of the nose, and soothe itchy eyes with a cold washcloth or over-the-counter antihistamine eye drops. To keep the "outside" out, keep windows closed, use the car's recirculate air setting, and have your child shower and shampoo before bed to wash off the day's allergens. If symptoms don't improve after two days of treatment, reach out to your pediatrician! https://www.abingtonpeds.com/is-your-child-sick/Hay-Fever #AllergyRelief #AllergyAwareness #PediatricCare
